CRANBERRY EXTRACT
The common cranberry is one of nature's best weapons against urinary tract infections. Doctors have routinely advised patients to drink cranberry juice to prevent urinary infections. Other benefits of cranberry include reducing inflammation and pain and helping improve digestion. Studies have shown cranberry may also be effective in the treatment of bladder cancer.

According to a study at the University of Scranton, "Cranberries contained the most antioxidant phenols of 19 commonly eaten fruits. Cranberries are loaded with antioxidants and should be eaten more often...These antioxidants may play a role in helping to prevent heart disease and certain cancers."

Dr. Amy Howell, a researcher at Rutger's University stated, "The cranberries proanthocyanidins are structurally different than the proanthocyanidins found in other plant foods tested, which may explain why cranberry has unique antibacterial adhesion activity and helps to maintain urinary tract health."

According to the USDA-Agricultural Research Service, Cranberries had the highest ORAC value of ten fruits and vegetables tested.


HYSSOP
Hyssop is mentioned 12 times throughout the Bible and its name means "holy herb." It is native to the Mediterranean region where it grows wild. Today, it is grown worldwide. Hyssop has been used extensively for fighting infection. Antiseptic properties range from inhibiting viruses to cleansing the body of its toxins including plaque formation in the blood vessels. Hyssop is used as a purgative and for dispelling worms. It has been used to treat chronic infections of the liver and jaundice.

GINGKO BILOBA
Fossils show incredible evidence of the age of this species of tree.  A ginkgo was the only tree still standing after the atomic bomb was detonated at Hiroshima. It is an amazing herb!

Most often ginkgo is associated with improved circulation and memory retention. A 1997 Journal of the American Medical Association study confirmed the successful use of ginkgo in improving cognitive performance, mood and social functioning in Alzheimer's patients. This study noted ginkgo's potential for improving short-term memory, attention span and oxygen metabolism in the brain with improved transport of oxygen and glucose, essential energy sources for the brain.

Ginkgo has strong antioxidant properties, protecting both the central nervous system and cardiovascular system from aging. It is currently being studied as an aid for impotence caused by impaired blood flow.

GREEN TEA EXTRACT
Green tea has been known for years as a powerful antioxidant. Green tea extract is rich in bioflavonoids (a potent extract used primarily for fighting free radicals). Green tea contains a high content of polyphenols, a class of bioflavonoids. Green tea extract contains a potent antioxidant, epigallocatechin gallate (commonly called EGCG), which is over 200 times more powerful than vitamin E in neutralizing the pro-oxidants and free radicals that attack lipids in the brain. EGCG protects against digestive and respiratory infections, helps to block the cancer-promoting actions of carcinogens, protects against high total and LDL (bad) cholesterol levels and blocks the attachment of the bacteria associated with dental cavities to the teeth. Green tea extract helps with thermogenesis and aids in the metabolism of fat. The most obvious benefit to dieters is that it works without increasing the heart rate most often found in diet aids. It exerts a decided influence over the nervous system, generally evidenced by a feeling of comfort and exhilaration.

CINNAMON BARK
Cinnamon was used in ancient Egypt for embalming. During the Bubonic Plague, sponges were soaked in cinnamon and cloves and placed in sick rooms. Cinnamon was the most sought after spice during explorations of the 15th and 16th centuries. Ancient Chinese herbal references cite its uses as early as 2700 BC and Chinese herbalists still recommend it for relieving nausea, fever, diarrhea and menstrual problems. Cinnamon's primary properties are antibacterial, antifungal, aphrodisiac, digestive tonic, diuretic, and stimulant. Cinnamon also kills many disease-causing fungi and viruses. Cinnamon helps calm the stomach. One German study showed that cinnamon completely suppresses the cause of most urinary-tract infections (E coli bacteria) and the fungus responsible for vaginal yeast infections.

Some studies have shown that cinnamon helps people with diabetes metabolize sugar better. In adult-onset (Type II) diabetes, the pancreas produces insulin while the body is unable to use it efficiently to break down blood sugar.
